One of my favourite things about Twitter is how it provides me with VIP access into the minds of some very smart people.

We all know about the Lady Gaga's, Justin Bieber's and Deepak Chopra's of the world and the social impact of their tweets.

However it is the lower profile geniuses whose tweets that I find are the most interesting.

Below are 5 lesser known Twitter accounts that provide me with insight and inspiration.

1. The research and statistics type: Horace Dediu

This Harvard man knows his graphs. He has been working in computer science since long before the Twitter egg was hatched. He has an online project collecting data and analysis of Apple's business strategy and predictions of...

No matter the size of your company or the industry you are in, Twitter offers an excellent way for companies of all sizes to engage with customers and stay fresh in their minds.
Whether your company does not yet have a Twitter account or your Twitter account is struggling to get followers, it is worth studying the social media habits of companies that are tweeting their way toward success.

Below are three examples of companies that are using Twitter smartly.
1. Dell Uses Multiple Twitter Accounts for Better Organisation
Dell is one brand that has figured out that it is not necessary to send all kinds of tweets from a single account. Instead, they have created a collection of separate accounts. This helps keep...

As you may know we were forced to make some changes to our bulk follow/unfollow service by Twitter.

As part of the changes we now offer a Remote Account Management (RAM) feature where an Account Manager on our end manually processes your follows, unfollows, and blocks as required.

Remote Account Management

We have started activating RAM for users that have pre-registered for this service.  If you are interested in trying out this feature you can register your interest by logging into ManageFlitter and filling out the request here.

Below is a video of overview of RAM....

Sometimes it is useful and interesting to see which of your previous Twitter followers unfollow you and when they did so.

We have always had an "Account History" tracking function that provided this information.  Unfortunately it has not always been as accurate as we would have liked.

We have re-released the "Account History" tracking function.  It is now more accurate.  This is now live in all accounts.

To access this feature select "Analytics" -> "Account History".

Account History

Please note:

  • Account History will only display accounts that have unfollowed you since 25 September 2013.  Moving forward Account History will keep track of all accounts that unfollow you and what day they unfollow you.  ...

Twitter recently updated their Twitter API Frequently Asked Questions to include an entry explaining their decision to disallow bulk following and bulk unfollowing.

"Why are automated and bulk following/unfollowing services not allowed?
First, it’s worth clarifying that this policy change isn’t meant to prevent developers from building tools that surface potential accounts to follow or unfollow. However, the follow/unfollow action must happen one account at a time, not in bulk.
After hearing feedback from users who rely on third-party tools for follow management, we want to provide more context behind this policy change. Per theTwitter Rules, following or unfollowing large amounts of users in a short time period is considered to be a spam activity. Bulk and automated...

As you may be aware we have had to change the way our batch follow/unfollow functionality worked.

Most of our new functionality is now live for our users.

ManageFlitter New Batch Select Feature

This new functionality includes a "Remote Account Management" feature where you will be able to create a set of criteria, or a pre-selected list of accounts you wish to follow or unfollow - and an account manager at ManageFlitter will manually review and action individually as per your requirements...
